What You Need to Know
This is an election year for SISCA.
As usual, all four officer positions (president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer) are up for election.
But this year we also have an exciting new addition!
The board of directors is expanding from five to seven members, and the two new board positions will be up for election.
The five current members of the board of directors will remain at the discretion of the new president, in order to provide continuity, but eventually all members of the board of directors will be elected.
If you would like to take a greater role in SISCA, we encourage you to run! The only way this association can flourish is to have a variety of minds working together to improve this organization that we all love so dearly.
Below you will find information on the election process, duties of the officers and board members, and the eligibility criteria for running for any position.
In order to run for office, interested descendant members over the age of 18 must submit a candidate questionnaire between June 1 – July 15, 2019. The questionnaire is available online or by sending a request to SISCA’s email address (firstname.lastname@example.org), and it can be submitted by email to SISCA or mailed to:

The purpose of the questionnaire is to determine whether candidates meet the criteria to run for office and are qualified. An impartial election task group will collect the questionnaires, vet the information, and pass it on to the board for approval for candidates to run. If a candidate is approved, their name will go on the ballot.

Ballots and Voting
After July 15, questionnaires will be reviewed and descendant members who meet the criteria will be placed on the ballot. In mid-August, the ballot will be mailed to all eligible voting members and will include information about the candidates for the officers and board members positions.
Ballots can be returned by mail to: PO Box 1797, Brackettville, Texas 78832. The ballots will not be opened until the election is tallied on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Ballots must be received by Friday, September 20, 2019, to be counted in the election. For those who prefer to vote on the Saturday of Seminole Days, in-person voting will take place during Seminole Days until 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Votes will be tallied on Saturday afternoon, and the results will be announced Saturday evening at the annual dance at the Carver School.
Please note that candidate questionnaires must be received by email or postmarked by July 15, 2019.
